Wear Your Story: A Basquiat-Inspired Art Workshop Celebrating Black History Month

Sunday, February 22, at 11:30am

Join us for a bold, expressive, and hands-on art experience inspired by the life and legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat, an artist who used his voice, symbols, and raw creativity to challenge systems, tell stories of identity, and reclaim space through art. His work reminds us that art can be powerful, personal, and unapologetically human.

What You’ll Create

In this workshop, you’ll transform a sports coat or meaningful piece of clothing into wearable art, drawing inspiration from Basquiat’s fearless use of color, words, and symbolism. Together, we’ll explore self-expression, storytelling, and the courage to be seen, while honoring Black creativity and cultural impact. No art experience is needed, just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to create from the heart.
