As September begins and school routines settle in, it’s a powerful time to reflect on the spiritual gift of Wisdom. At Unity of Oak Park, we celebrate wisdom not just as knowledge, but as the deeper understanding that helps us make loving choices, stay grounded in truth, and live with purpose.
September’s Theme: The Power of Wisdom
Wisdom helps us discern what’s right, make thoughtful decisions, and act with compassion. It’s not just about knowing facts—it’s about knowing what to do with what we know. As children, teens, and families step into a new school year, we’re reminded how important it is to approach life with patience, understanding, and a willingness to learn from every experience.
Family Affirmation: I listen, learn, and grow in wisdom and love day by day.
Family Activity: The Wisdom Wall
Create a “Wisdom Wall” in your home—a space where each family member can share a piece of wisdom or a life lesson. These can come from a book, a teacher, a spiritual practice, or a personal experience. Use sticky notes, index cards, or small drawings and add to it throughout the month.
At the end of September, gather together and reflect on what’s been shared. Ask questions like:
What have we learned from each other?
How has wisdom helped us grow?
What new choices or habits can we bring into this next season?
This simple practice helps children and adults recognize the value of everyday learning and how spiritual insight can show up in big and small ways.
