"It is the spirit in a man, the breath of the almighty, that makes him understand." (Job 32:8)
This Truth is expressed in nearly every culture in the world. Regardless of personal beliefs, no matter which nation is home, somewhere in the accumulated wisdom of the past this Truth is written. From dim ages when our world was much larger (figuratively) than it is today, this Truth has sprung independently into the minds and hearts of enlightened ones everywhere. Therefore we, as a global people, are much more alike than the apparent differences of language and custom might indicate. The same hopes of plenty, the same dreams of peace, the same desires for love and brotherhood abide within the soul of the majority of thinking people.
Outer appearances and events tell us that we, as a planetary society, are rapidly approaching a point of decision for the hopes for universal unity. This decision must be made with understanding. Each one must pause and listen to that breath, that inspiration of the Source within us from which understanding arises. Listen for the inner voice that says, "Yes. We are all made in the image and likeness of the one Source."
In Persian history there is a saying, "Do as you would be done by." In Egypt it is said, "He sought for others the good he desired for himself." Those who follow the way of the Buddha say, "One should seek for others the happiness one desires for oneself." Jesus instructed us: "Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them." (Mt. 7:12). This Golden Rule, along with the many forms of religious teachings of the world, creates the threads of Truth that weaves humankind together in ONENESS. Listen!! There is a spirit within us, it is the breath of the ONE giving us understanding.
