MAY/JUNE 2012Pet Adoption Day – Sun., May 6, from 8:30 to 10:30 am. This special event brings some of the cats and dogs from the Animal Care League, Oak Park’s nonprofit animal shelter, to a booth on our church grounds. You will have the opportunity to pick up literature or speak to ACL representatives and learn about their work for animals. If you are interested in providing a loving home to one of the animals, you can fill out an application and begin the adoption process that day! For more information, please call the church. Women and Men of Unity – Sat., May 12, from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Join us for our special book study. Refreshments will be served. Facilitated by Bernie Thauland, LUT. Book Club - Sun., May 20, and June 17, at 12:30 pm. Please join us in Friendship Hall on the third Sunday of each month for interesting book discussions, fun, and camaraderie. Facilitated by Lori Kumskis. Prayer Shawl Ministry - Sun., May 20, and June 17, from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Do you knit or crochet? If you don't know how, someone will be available at these monthly meetings to teach you. We are gathering together on the third Sunday of every month in the Solarium to make shawls, blankets, and other items for people in nursing homes and shelters. Unity Light - Fri., May 11, at 7:00 pm. The primary focus of “Unity Light: Illuminating a New Vision” is to experience great movies, movie clips, and robust discussions that are facilitated by Jun Mhoon, LUT Candidate. MASTER MIND JOURNALING GROUPS Journaling is a way of centering ourselves. It is a time of refocusing on what we value and a place to set goals. It is a spiritual tool for growth and self discovery.
